Active Pistol Shooting Drills – February 2017

I got to hitch along a shooting session instructed by the Special Unit of one of our local Law Enforcement Agencies, and one thing I liked about this session was how they used “Active” types of Pistol Shooting Drills. By “active” I mean drills that are stimulating or used movement also rather than just standing at a spot and then shooting at a static target.

In a way some of these drills are similar to the ones used by the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA). IDPA by the way is the governing body of a shooting sport that simulates self-defense scenarios and real life encounters. They put more emphasis on shooting on the move or behind cover, etc. anything that simulates shooting that might happen in real life.

They also don't allow “Competition only” equipment and permit only stock equipment with as minor modifications as possible. It was founded in 1996 now has an estimated 20,000 members in 50 countries around the world.1

License to Own and Possess Firearm (LTOPF) Itself Process - December 2016

The jumble of License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) documentary requirements that people will have to collect and go thru.

On the same day I finally got the last of the results for my License to Own and Posses Firearms (LTOPF) requirements, I went out and applied for the LTOPF itself. For this I went to the main office of the Philippine National Police – Firearms and Explosives Ordinance (PNP-FEO) which is at the other end of Camp Crame opposite that of Gate Two. I arrived there at 11:40 am, so I immediately went to the Help Desk to ask for help on how to go about the process.

DAY ONE

’Document Check’
The lady at the desk told me to go to the Document Checker after doing the following:
- Fill up two copies of the Application Form for the LTOPF, attach my 2” x 2” sized Identification (ID) pictures on it, and then have it notarized
- Photocopy ID documents, on separate papers
- Put all of the requirements on an envelope

License to Own and Possess Firearm (LTOPF) Requirements Process - December 2016

The requirements for the License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) as posted on December 2016 outside the Firearms and Explosives Divsion (FED) of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

I went thru the process of acquiring a License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) and renew my Firearms Licenses recently, and it was one hell of a saga, hence I decided to go and blog about it. This will be the first of a couple of parts, probably three parts, we’ll see, and this first one covers only how I got the REQUIREMENTS, not the LTOPF itself, but just the requirements.

There are a couple of ways and outlets where one can go about getting these requirements, but I decided to just go directly to Camp Crame to make sure I followed the correct procedure, and hopefully to get it sooner also (how wrong I was, I found out later).
